Jo Bird - Viola
Jo Bird received a viola at the age of 10 and discovered metal.

Debra Brown - Cello, Viola
Debra’s love affair with the violin began about three years ago. She received a violin from a friend and met a violin teacher named Susan. Debra was very fortunate in that her first music teacher put an equal emphasis on both technique and music interpretation. Susan encouraged Debra to trust her ear and improvise along with a piano or guitar.
Debra began playing with a Houston band, Love Star XXX. One day, Debra’s friend Clyde invited her to bring her violin up to Notsuoh and meet The Easy Credit Dance Theater. Debra began composing with local Houston musicians to create music for a dance performance called Reformation. After that, Debra continued to work with Richard Hubsher and the dance company on a performance of Petrushka. In May of 2002, on the last day of the Petrushka performance, Debra noticed a girl watching her play through the fence. The girl came over and asked if she could play viola with them. The girl with the viola was Jo.
Margaret and Debra were living together. After both missed a planned vacation, they decided to start playing music together. Two Star Symphony began with these two ladies telling stories and making up pirate tunes at an open mike at Oscar’s Creamery. After the two had been playing together a few weeks, Debra contacted Jo and invited her to come over and play. On the third Thursday of October 2002, the three ladies played their first open mike at Helios.
Margaret, Debra and Jo decided to move to Austin to focus on their music. Luckily for Houston, Austin was out of focus. THE END.
